Delta Module One - Exam Know-How: P1 T2

P1 | T2

In Delta Module 1 exam, tasks 1 & 2 deal with terminology.

Task 2, in particular, requires you to provide:
a. a 'definition'
along with
b. an 'example'
to define a term in common use in the field of English Language Teaching/Applied Linguistics.

In case you are wondering how you could practice your 'concept-defining' as well as your 'example-finding' powers, I'd suggest you
a. get your hands on some past papers (here is a place to start with 1), and
b. use this highly effective Feynman Technique to hone your defining/exemplifying skills.

(Let me know in the comments below how this worked out for you. If you have taken the test or are preparing to take it, let us know of any P1 T1/T2 study technique that best worked/works out for you.)

Good luck

Notes:

1 There have been changes in the format of the exam since June 2015. Prior to that date, T2 presented a total of 'six' terms and required that the examinee pick 'four' among them. In its current format, T2 provides 'four' items and requires that 'all of them' be defined and exemplified. See here for a detailed report on the entire exam.

  2. Hi Meral,
Thank you for commenting. Here is the GLA for P1-T2 from DELTA M1 Exam Report (Cambridge June 2015, p.10):

    Candidates are recommended to:
 be succinct in their answers
     attempt all the definitions
 think carefully about the basic definition that they give and make use of linguistic/technical terms rather than the more simplified terms they might use with students
 only provide one example for each definition
 lay out their answers clearly using the sub-headings of Point, Example.
